Irradiation: inoperable HCC - primary liver cancer treated with radioembolisatie - Yttrium-90 microspheren gives the same effect on life and survival when TACE - Trans-arterial Chemo Embolisation. Article posted February 7, 2010February 7, 2010: Source: J Vasc Interv Radiol. February 2010, 21 (2) :224-230. Epub 2009 in December 1921. Yttrium-90 Radioembolisatie microspheren of inoperable liver tumors (HCC - primary liver) gives the same lifetime and overall survival than TACE - Trans-arterial Chemo Embolisation . This study shows a retropostpectieve two different studies included. Yttrium-90 is also in the UMC - Utrecht applied. See under irradiation in the alphabetical list of colon cancers. The median survival in the two studied and compared studies was 11.5 months for patients treated with Yttrium-90 and 8.5 months for those in the study with the TACE group. But a further analysis showed that in the Yttrium -90 group of patients is less severe or less advanced disease had better say. Adjusted showed the same effectiveness in life between TACE and Yttrium-90 groups. The study compared the results with 691 patients receiving cisplatin-based TACE - chemoembolisatie between 1992 and 2000 were received and 99 patients were treated with Yttrium-90 microspheres between 2000 and 2005. TACE was, where possible, repeated every eight to 12 weeks, while internal hepatic radiation with Yttrium-90 was given only with half dose if there was progressive disease. |
